What to Bring With You
Get ready for life at Buffalo State! Be prepared in case of an illness or medical emergency by creating a first-aid kit. Over-the-counter medications and supplies that we recommend keeping on hand are listed below.
Necessary Items to Bring
- Bring your medical Insurance card(s) or make a copy of your card—front and back.
- Discuss with parent(s) about how your insurance works (pre-authorization, referrals, co-pays)
- Primary physician's name, address, and phone number (Any pertinent documentations or clearances)
- Copy your entire immunization record, including covid-19. (Tetanus is required for all sports physicals)
- List of medications you are currently taking (get refills for the semester)
- List of any allergies to medication and/or food
Note: Students’ personal medication cannot be stored at Weigel Health Center.
Suggested Medications
If you bring any of the following medications for the school year, do not take any of these if you have an allergy to them.
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol, etc.)
- Acne Cream
- Allergy/Sinus Medications
- Antacids
- Benadryl
- Cough Drops
- Emergen-C
- Epi-Pen (if prescribed)
- Eye Wash/Drops
- Hand Sanitizer
- Hydrocortisone cream
- Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc.)
- Imodium (over the counter)
- Menstrual Cramp Medication
- Migraine Headache Medication
- Antibiotic Ointment
- OTC Cold/Flu/Cough Medications
- Prescription Medications (get refills)
- Respiratory Inhalers (if prescribed)

- 2 boxes of Kleenex
- Ace wraps
- Band Aids
- Digital Thermometer
- Disinfecting Wipes
- Eye glasses
- First Aid Kit
- Ice Packs/Hot Packs
- Slings
- Tweezers
- PPE (Masks, gloves, hand sanitizer)
